Texans linebacker Brian Cushing has been cleared by Dr. James Andrews to return to football activities after tearing his ACL during the 2012 season, according to a report from Pro Football Talk

In June, Cushing was told July 17 was the target date for him to be cleared. It appears he has met that goal and the final hurdle.

In five games during the 2012 season, Cushing recorded 30 tackles, broke up two passes and intercepted one. He'll certainly add an important presence to what's become one of the league's better defenses. For more NFL coverage, go to
