The New York Jets announced this week that they will hold their 2014 training camp at SUNY Cortland in central New York for the fifth time in the last six years. The only time New York missed the summer getaway to central New York was during the NFL lockout in 2011 when they remained at their training facility in Florham Park, New Jersey due to a shortened offseason period.
General Manager John Idzik isn't in the business of breaking the team's recent summer tradition.
"The school and the community have joined together to continually provide a terrific backdrop for our team to come together at a critical stage of our season," noted Idzik. "I am pleased that we are returning to Cortland for training camp again this summer."
Head coach Rex Ryan isn't hiding the fact that he's thrilled Gang Green is returning to central New York.
"I love the fact that we are going back to Cortland," offered New York's head man. "Everyone knows how I feel about going away. I think it is a big part of building our team camaraderie. The community, the school and the people of Cortland have been outstanding and we are all excited to be going back this summer."
