With the Houston Texans trading for Ryan Mallett, backup quarterback Case Keemun has been waived with the move. This comes as a little surprise with the addition of Mallett and the Texans having starter in Ryan Fitzpatrick and recently drafted Tom Savage.
Case Keenum was forced into action during the 2012 with the poor play of Matt Schaub where he threw for 1,760 yards with 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.
He was 0-8 in those eight starts, but it was a complete meltdown of a season for the Texans which was not all on Keenum.
Keenum struggled during the preseason where he appeared in all four preseason games and only completed 53.8% of his passes for 254 yards and 2
interceptions. Keenum could never step up his play during the preseason for the Texans to feel comfortable with him as the back up option for the season.
The release of Keenum puts the Texans roster at three quarterbacks now with Fitzpatrick, Mallett and Savage.
