REPORT CARD VS. STEELERS
PASSING OFFENSE: F
David Carr was sacked eight times and looked completely out of sync the entire game. Instead of throwing the ball out of bounds, Carr twice ran out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage
and was charged with sacks. He also was credited with two delay-of-game penalties. He was only able to find Pro Bowl WR Andre Johnson four times for a total of 20 yards. Carr also rolled out to the left early in the
first quarter and had the ball away from his body. He was sacked and
stripped of the ball on that possession.
RUSHING OFFENSE: F
The Texans continued their inability to successfully run the ball. Domanick Davis had 15 carries for only 59
yards -- an average of 3.9 yards. The Texans had no rushing touchdowns and the only rush of at least 20 yards came when a play broke down and
Carr kept the ball. His 20-yard carry helped set up the Texans' lone
scoring drive of the game.
PASS DEFENSE: F
The Texans gave up one big play after another on defense. By the fourth quarter, starting cornerback Phillip Buchanon was even benched for Demarcus Faggins. The Steelers averaged 18.1 yards per catch. Hines Ward caught two touchdown receptions, and Ben Roethlisberger threw touchdown passes of 54 yards to Antwaan Randle El and 40 yards to Cedrick Wilson.
RUSH DEFENSE: F
The Texans allowed a 100-yard rusher for the second week in a row and gave up 4.2 yards per carry. They recorded only one sack (OLB Antwan Peek) and rarely pressured the quarterback. In the third quarter, OLB Jason Babin was benched for committing a costly
penalty. He was replaced by Shantee Orr.
SPECIAL TEAMS: D
The return game continues to give the Texans poor field position with rookie Vernand Morency returning kickoffs and
Phillip Buchanon returning punts. The Texans' started on their 20-yard line or worse five times. Their best start was on their own 26-yard line. There were no field goals for the second week in a row. P Chad Stanley
was strong.
COACHING: F
The Texans' offense and defense couldn't have played much poorer. The offense looked discombobulated and put together only
one scoring drive for the second-consecutive week. The defense wasn't aggressive and still has yet to force one turnover this season.
