The Houston Texans announced yesterday that CB Kevin Garrett was released by the team, and CB Derrick Johnson (pictured right) and T
Brad Bedell.
Garrett (5-10, 194) played only one game while with the
Texans, against Indianapolis last week. He played with the St. Louis Rams for
three seasons before coming to Houston. Garrett has 21 tackles (16 solo) in his
career 24 games.
Johnson (5-11, 188) is a 2 year veteran of the NFL and
attended college at the University of Washington. Texans Head Coach Gary Kubiak
commented on Johnson’s first practice, saying “He just worked out extremely well
yesterday. He has some experience. He did some things in San Francisco, so we
like the fact that been on the field”
Bedell (6-4, 306) was signed to the Texans because of the
shift in personnel due to LT Charles Spencer’s season ending injury. He is a 5
year veteran of the NFL and spent the last two seasons with the Green Bay Packers under Texans Assistant Head Coach/Offense Mike Sherman, who was the head
coach of the Packers at that time. Bedell has started 4 of his 31 career NFL
games.
