With the trade deadline passing, the Texans announced some
of the roster moves that were made yesterday.
10 year NFL veteran DT Seth Payne was moved to the Injured
Reserve list after tearing the ACL in his right knee during the contest against
the Dallas Cowboys last week. Payne will be out for the rest of the season, and
it is likely that fans may not see him in a Texans uniform again.
Texans Head Coach Gary Kubiak commented on the loss of
Payne on Monday, saying “He’s a class act, a great kid. He’s one you can count
on to be here every day battling and for him to miss the rest of this year is
very disappointing”
The Texans signed two players to the active roster on
Tuesday, including one from the practice squad.
DT Lional Dalton was signed by Houston after he was
released by the Kansas City Chiefs. Dalton (6-1, 315) is a 9 year NFL veteran
and has 127 career tackles (100 solo) in his 112 games.
WR David Anderson was brought up from the practice squad as
well to fill out the 53 man roster. Anderson (5-9, 194) is a rookie from
Colorado State University. Anderson didn’t make any plays during preseason, but
Kubiak believes he will be an asset to the offense.
There may be some additional roster shuffling ahead for the
Texans, as LB Kailee Wong and CB DeMarcus Faggins are expected to come off the
PUP list this week. Both players should be ready for this week’s contest
against AFC South divisional rivals the Jacksonville Jaguars.
