Slaton Carrying the Load

For two quarters Sunday, the Texans proved they can run the football and Steve Slaton showed he belongs in an NFL backfield.

These were rare positives on another afternoon awash in negatives. But the rookie Slaton's 116-yard effort -- 104 of them coming before halftime -- in his first pro start is at least a building block, something the Texans can hang their helmets on, if they are to escape their losing rut.
