Texans Scouts in Big Ten Country

Scouts from the Houston Texans and several other teams headed north to West Lafayette, IN to take in the Purdue Boilermakers Pro Day. Although the Texans first or second round picks will likely not be alums of Purdue, there are quite a few players on the second day who could fit in well in Houston.

The first player who will likely be selected from Purdue is defensive tackle Alex Magee. The 6'3", 292 lb. tackle ran 4.82 and 4.85 in his 40-yard dashes, and posted 9'5" broad jump with a 4.42 second short shuttle. Magee is projected as an early second-day pick, and although the Texans have some depth at the position behind Amobi Okoye and Travis Johnson, as they signed Shaun Cody, along with Tim Bulman and Frank Okam, they may just pull the trigger on another big guy.

Another Boilermaker who certainly grabbed the attention of scouts this offseason is running back Kory Sheets. Sheets could be the middle-round compliment to Steve Slaton that the team is looking for as he ran in the 4.3's in the 40, and has good hands out of the backfield. Sheets is projected as a fourth to fifth-round pick.

Some of the others who worked out were DT Ryan Baker, C Cory Benton, S Frank Duong, DT/FB Jermaine Guynn, LB Anthony Heygood, CB Fabian Martin, WR Roberto McBean, WR Greg Orton, QB Curtis Painter, OT Sean Sester, WR Desmond Tardy, WR Joe Whitest, and WR Brandon Whittington.
