Look at the Schedule

It will likely take 10 wins to get to the playoffs and this could be the year that Houston gets there.

At 5-4, the Texans will need to win five of their last seven and the schedule sets up for that type of success. Houston has home games against Tennessee and Indianapolis, followed by a trip to Jacksonville before returning home to face Seattle. A pair of road games against St. Louis and Miami preceding the regular season finale against New England sets up well for Houston.

This Monday's Titans game is a must-win, and the Texans have some success to call back on as they've defeated Tennessee twice in a row. Houston stood toe-to-toe with Indianapolis, and a missed field goal and blown fumble call cost them from knocking the Colts from the ranks of the unbeaten. Things could be different as the Texans will have Indianapolis in the friendly confines of Reliant Stadium.

The Texans should be able to win in Jacksonville, as the Jaguars have an inflated 5-4 record due to a soft schedule. Jacksonville defeated the Texans back in week three, and they haven't swept a season series against Houston since 2005.

The next three-week stretch against Seattle, St. Louis and Miami is critical to Houston's playoff hopes. All three teams are floundering and the Texans must win all three. The finale against New England may set up very well for Houston as the Patriots will likely have their division wrapped up by then and could have nothing to play for. New England has been known to tank end of the season games to rest their starters.
