In the offseason, the Texans were looking for a running back to come off the bench and play behind Steve Slaton, who excelled as a rookie when he rushed for 1,282 yards, averaged 4.8 per carry and scored nine touchdowns. Slaton had 1,659 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns.
