According to Deepi Sidhu, the Houston Texans have scheduled a meeting at the NFL combine with former LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger. Mettenberger is not able to participate at the NFL Combine due to a torn ACL suffered at the end of the college season against the Arkansas Razorbacks. He is six weeks removed from his surgery and according to reports he is ahead of schedule in the recovery process. He is scheduled to start throwing next week according to his trainer.
At 6-5 and 224 lbs. Mettenberger took a big jump from his junior to senior season under new LSU offensive coordinator Cam Cameron. Considered a pure drop back passer with a NFL arm, Mettenberger threw for 3,082 yards (64.9% completion) with 22 touchdowns and 8 interceptions.
Reports have been that his knee injury should do little to impact his draft status and should be a day two selection in the NFL draft.
