According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Houston Texans had Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppalo on a visit to NRG this week.
Garoppalo was a relative unknown during the season playing at Eastern Illinois where he lit up his senior season throwing for 4,489 yards with 48 touchdowns to only 8 interceptions. His stock has risen since his performance at the East-West Shrine Game which led to him being invited to the Senior Bowl.
At 6-2 and 226 lbs. Garoppalo won the 2013 Walter Payton Award for the FCS’ Outstanding player for the season and he garnered %%MATCH_2%% Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year. His quick release and football I.Q. have attracted NFL teams to this potential project at the NFL level.
Garoppalo is the fifth quarterback that is known to visit NRG in the Texans pre-draft visits.
