The %%MATCH_8%% continue their quest to nail down who they might draft with the top overall pick in the NFL Draft and today marks the biggest names to date. The Texans are hosting %%MATCH_10%% quarterback Johnny Manziel and %%MATCH_9%% defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.
The Texans will interview the two potential top picks and will be added to the growing list of prospects the team has talked to prior to the draft. Both prospects have been the topic of discussion on being the top pick across numerous media outlets across the nation.
Manziel has become the local favorite with his collegiate and state ties plus his dynamic play making ability. For the Aggies, Manziel threw for 7,820 yards and rushed for 2,169 yards with 93 total touchdowns. (63 passing, 30 rushing) His first year as a starter in 2012 resulted in the Heisman trophy and putting the Aggies back on the map on the national college football scene.
As for Clowney in three seasons at Columbia for the Gamecocks he had 130 total tackles with 47 as tackles for loss and 24 career sacks. There has been plenty of speculation on what type of player Clowney will be after what some considered a down junior season that only resulted in three quarterback sacks.
The Texans are doing their due diligence for the upcoming draft, but one of these two visiting today could easily be the top overall pick.
