Jadeveon Clowney was in New York doing a commercial shoot with one of his sponsors (Vita Coco sports drink) and is set to return to Houston tomorrow to get ready for the upcoming season.
Clowney underwent surgery in Philadelphia to repair a sports hernia that caused him to miss the last week of OTAs and mandatory mini camp. With rest and rehab, Clowney has not been cleared to return to full speed but has been going through tests from doctors to get him ready for camp.
“I’m going to try, that’s the goal, to try to get back. But I don’t know for sure right now. I’m going to let (the trainers) decide.” said Clowney.
Texans training camp is set to open on July 26th and it would be expected that the team will be more focused on having Clowney healthy for week 1 against the Washington Redskins. Clowney will be available for training camp at some point, but the team will ease him into the flow when he is completely healthy.
The Texans drafted Clowney first overall in the 2014 NFL Draft out of South Carolina and he took part in rookie mini-camp and half of OTAs. He will be making the conversion to outside linebacker after playing defensive end for the Gamecocks.
